August 2025
Greetings 9E Families,
I hope this letter finds you well. I hope your summer has been full of sunshine, fun and quality family time. The time
has quickly flown by an we are now ready to begin another wonderful school year together. I, along with the entire
9E staff, am so excited to welcome students back to school next week!
As many of you know, each year we select a theme that supports our school’s mission and vision. Our theme
is a unifying idea that helps to guide our efforts throughout the year. Recent themes include BELONGING and
RESPONSIBILITY. These two themes are critical to the success of all students. It is important that we keep
them alive this year and into the future. I’m excited to share that our school’s theme for this year is
INTEGRITY. It encompasses many core values that we want our students to internalize, including honesty,
confidence, teamwork and more. Although INTEGRITY may seem like an advanced concept, especially for our
youngest learners, I am confident that we will help our students develop a deep understanding of it. I’m so
excited to see how we will work together to bring this theme to life throughout the year.
Our collective goal as a school community is to help students become well-rounded learners and role models.
To accomplish this, we will continue to address students’ academic, social and emotional needs. Our
academic program is as robust as ever. Our curriculum in all subject areas challenges students while providing
the necessary scaffolds to help them succeed. Our teachers deliver small group lessons with engaging,
differentiated materials to help students grasp the content. Our academic program will be reinforced by our
special area classes and extracurricular opportunities. Students will participate in art, music, physical
education, makerspace, health and more. To support students’ social and emotional needs, we will continue
to utilize the RULER anchor tools, including classroom charters and the mood meter. We are also excited to
continue our implementation of the Responsive Classroom approach. This approach is made up of engaging
classroom practices, such as daily morning meetings, that aim to build a sense of community. Back to School
Night on Wednesday, September 10th, will be an opportunity for our teachers to share more information
about our daily instruction and classroom routines. The schedule for the evening will be sent out shortly. We
hope you will be able to join us.
Thank you for taking the time to read this welcome back letter. Please also take a moment to review the
additional documents attached to this message. Enjoy the last few days of summer and we can’t wait to see
everyone next week!
Sincerely,
Mr. McPherson
